Terms of Service
Last updated: May 28, 2026
1. What MetricsOverlay is
MetricsOverlay is a browser-based tool that lets you add data overlays (heart rate, speed, power, GPS maps, etc.) to your activity videos using .fit files from fitness devices. All video processing happens locally in your browser. We provide the editor, overlay rendering engine, and cloud services for account management, .fit file storage, and subscription billing.
2. Your content
You own your videos, .fit files, and exported content. We do not claim any ownership or license over your content. Your video files are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. The .fit files you load are stored in encrypted cloud storage to enable features like re-downloading, but remain yours.
3. Accounts
You need an account to use MetricsOverlay. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. One account per person. Do not share accounts or create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits.
4. Free and paid tiers
MetricsOverlay offers a free tier with limited exports and overlays, and paid tiers (Pro, Studio) with higher or unlimited limits. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. You can cancel at any time and retain access through the end of your billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — reach out on the contact page.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use MetricsOverlay to:
- Violate any law or regulation
- Infringe on anyone's intellectual property
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the service
- Circumvent subscription limits through automation or multiple accounts
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
6. Availability and changes
We aim to keep MetricsOverlay available and reliable, but we do not guarantee 100% uptime. We may update features, pricing, or these terms at any time. Significant changes to pricing will be communicated to existing subscribers before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
7. Limitation of liability
MetricsOverlay is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any data loss, corrupted exports, or damages arising from your use of the service. Since video processing happens locally in your browser, export results depend on your hardware, browser, and video files.
8. Bug reports and support contact
If you submit a bug report, feature request, or support message through the in-app contact form, you agree that we may reach back out to the email address associated with your account (or the one you provide in the form) for clarification, follow-up questions, or to let you know when an issue is resolved. This is reply-to-your-message contact, not marketing — opting out of marketing emails does not affect it.
9. Product analytics and error reporting
To improve the editor and diagnose issues, MetricsOverlay records anonymized product usage and error data when you use the app. This includes:
- Editor and export events (overlay add/remove/style changes, export starts and completions, session length)
- Export configuration snapshots (overlay types, styles, colors, fonts; resolution, codec, frame rate; clip count and duration)
- Error reports when something fails (error message, stack trace, the frame index and pending queue size at the time of an export failure)
- Technical environment used to render the failure (OS, browser version, GPU renderer string, CPU core count, RAM, JS heap snapshot, screen resolution, timezone, language, build SHA, battery state)
- Coarse traffic data (page paths, referrers, country, device type)
We use this data to debug crashes, prioritize features, and ship better releases. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to build cross-site profiles. Your video files and frame contents are never part of this telemetry — they never leave your browser.
10. Privacy
Your privacy matters to us. Please read our Privacy Policy for details on what data we collect and how we handle it. The key point: your video files never leave your device.
